A: No, there will not be accommodation options through Big White Central Reservations this summer. Our team is taking this time to work on best practices to ensure we can offer safe accommodation options for the winter season.

Q&A Bike

Q: Will you be open for biking?
A: Yes, our lift-accessed mountain biking will open for the season Friday July 10, 2020. We will be open Friday-Sunday & Holiday Monday 10am-5pm, with Extended Play Fridays until 7pm.

Q: Are you limiting the number of bike tickets available? Do I need to pre-purchase?
A: At this time we have not limited the number of day tickets available. Bike tickets and passes are not available online and must be purchased in resort. We expect that it may get busier as other bike parks have limited tickets and we ask that you do your part to spread out and help keep the flow of the bike park running smoothly.

Reminder: As part of our COVID-19 protocols we will not be accepting cash at the ticket office for biking tickets or season passes.

Q: Will there be any new trails?
A: We're putting a pause on new trails for this season. We will be operating with a small trail crew, so their focus will be preparing and maintaining the existing trails.

Q: Where's the village pump track?
A: With space needed in the village for facilities vital to our operations under new guidelines this year, we are unable to provide a pump track in the village centre this season.

Q: Will there be a bike valet available?
A: To ensure the safety of our guests and staff, we have had to adapt some of our operations and are unable to offer this service.

Q: What are the changes to the lift and loading procedures?
A: The Bullet Chair (which is a 4 person chairlift) for regular biking operations has a max capacity of 2 bikes and 2 riders per chair, so no changes are necessary for regular loading capacity. If you do not wish to load with someone outside of your group, you are free to load as a single rider.

Q: Do I have to book bike lift tickets online or in advance?
A: No, our bike ticket and pass products are not currently available online as you will need to sing a waiver in person. The ticket desk on mountain this summer will operate out of building adjacent to the Village Centre Mall. Look for signage upon arrival in the village and follow the processes in place upon arrival. Please note that we have gone cashless. For more information on the purchase and waivers for bike ticket and pass products please see please see here >>

Q: Will there be still be Friday Night Toonie Races?
A: Yes, Toonie Races will run every Friday throughout the summer. We ask that participants respect physical distancing best practices both during the races and in the village. There will be some changes to the awards format in order to help regulate the congregation of crowds.

Q: Will you have Free Ride Guides and bike lessons?
A: The Free Ride Guide program will not be available this season. If you are new to mountain biking or the bike park, we suggest booking a lesson through our Bike School.

Q: Can I still rent a bike and/or armour?
A: Yes, Bike Rentals an repairs will operate out of the Kids Centre in the village. Reservations are required for ALL rentals - pre-register online to ensure smooth and quick service (even if you are just renting armour or a helmet). We will then have your waiver and equipment ready for a smooth pickup with minimum contact. Returns will be outside and all Bikes and equipment will be washed and sanitized thoroughly as it comes back.

Q: Will the bike repair shop be open?
A: The repair shop will operate out of Kids Centre in the village. Entry will be through the main entrance of the Kids Centre and limited to one person at a time. Guests will be required to wash and sanitize their bike before bringing it inside. Please be mindful there will be smaller selection of parts and services this year as operations are reduced.

Q: Are Freeride Days and the Invitational Slopestyle cancelled?
A: Guidelines continue to change but it’s clear that there will continue to be travel restrictions which will limit athletes coming to compete. Gathering of large crowds, for spectators, food areas and beer gardens are also of concern. For this reason we have decided to put Freeride Days and the Big White Invitational on hiatus for this year. We still believe in creating opportunities for local athletes, and there us plenty of talent right here in our backyard. While will not be hosting an FMB sanctioned event this year, stay tuned for details on our Friday Night Freeride Sessions and a more BC based Slopestyle event hosted by Tom van Steenbergen, to be held closer to the end of the season.

Q: With happens in case of bad weather or lightning with limited indoor spaces?
A: In light of the changes to our operating procedures due to COVID-19, namely the availability of indoor public spaces to seek shelter, our Weather/Lightning protocols have been modified to ensure there is an early warning system in place to ensure sufficient time for our Bike Patrol to clear and sweep the Park prior to any dangers that exist due to severe weather. During a lift closure you will be asked to return to your vehicle to wait until the Operations Team have given the all-clear to resume normal lift service.
